Mining tycoon Andrew Forrest has embarked on a global mission, armed with a quiver of climate warnings and a bow of alarmist rhetoric. His target seems to be the rational and nuanced discourse in the climate debate. Forrest’s arrows, however, seem to be missing the mark, veering into the realms of exaggeration and dramatic flair.
“Andrew Forrest has warned climate experts in Australia that “lethal humidity is here” and needs to be stopped, part of a message he says he was told to spread by the White House, New Delhi and Beijing.”

Forrest’s approach, marked by a sense of urgency and a barrage of alarming statements, seems to be more about creating a spectacle than fostering a genuine and constructive discussion on climate issues. His call for experts to “verify” the journal articles and images he presents appears more as a tactic to bolster his narrative rather than an open invitation for scrutiny and discussion.
“He encouraged the experts in the room to “look up” and “verify” the many journal articles he referenced in his slideshow that were attached to confronting images of “humidity death”.”
https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/twiggy-takes-his-dark-warning-on-climate-to-universities/news-story/eb55763e5c7092173e319892239b01c6
His portrayal of “lethal humidity” and the catastrophic impacts of global warming, while vivid, seems to lack a foundation of balanced and objective analysis. The narrative, filled with images of doom and gloom, appears to be a carefully crafted tapestry of alarmist rhetoric.
“Earth’s humidity increases by about 7 per cent per one degree of warming, Dr Forrest warned. “I need everyone to realise that global warming is accelerating. And that is accelerating humidity” which was then driving violent storms, flood and cyclones, he said.”
https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/twiggy-takes-his-dark-warning-on-climate-to-universities/news-story/eb55763e5c7092173e319892239b01c6
Forrest’s interactions with global leaders and institutions such as the White House, New Delhi, and Beijing, while intriguing, raise questions about the nature and motive of his climate crusade. Is this a genuine effort to address climate issues, or is there a more nuanced agenda behind this global campaign?
““The resources we’re lacking … is not cash … The argument here is that we’ve got to allocate the capital in the right way. We’ve got to remove all policies that deter the prevention of global warming. I’m here because I’ve spoken to New Delhi. I’ve spoken to Beijing. I’ve spoken to the White House. And they’ve said, get this message out. So I said, I’m gonna do that.”

In conclusion, while Forrest’s intentions might be noble, however misguided, his approach seems to be marred by exaggeration and a lack of nuanced discussion. His climate crusade, while grand in its presentation, leaves much to be desired in terms of fostering a rational and constructive discourse on climate issues.
I love how the Aussie newsrag calls Andrew Forrest “Twiggy” … I say let’s make that go viral!
w.
Look how much FF Twiggy uses every day, the hypocrite.
Good call. And when he says he talked to the white house, presumably he’s referring to The White House pub in Leicester?
I used to work for him. He’s been called Twiggy in Australia for decades.
Noble? How? This is professional grifting. At the Ruling Class level. The US just saw $2.2 trillion in grifting over the last 4 months through:
Ukraine
Climate
welfare
immigration
and soon, helping, as the US calls them, ‘our greatest ally’ to kill off the remaining arabs in palestine, after dragging it out for 70 years
they, being people like this kanoob, continue the grift
75 years.
It’s an existential threat…you can’t get any bigger than that…will he annoy more people than Al Gore?….or Kerry John?…..or Mikey Mann? Who? Who will become the most annoying one of all?
EEK! Doomsters keep saying this and that are “accelerating”. WHERE!? Nothing is accelerating for crying out loud. Except for their shrill cries of doom.
I survived the lethal humidity of 2023 (so far).
Cooler weather kills about 4 million more people per year than warmer weather. Our capillaries constrict to retain heat in cooler weather. That increases our blood pressure, resulting in more heart attacks and strokes in cooler weather.
Yet another climate alarmist idiot at large🤪.
Twiggy has a eye for
thehis future.I totally get where he’s trying to go. In his shoes, I’d be doing the same.
Iron ore futures aren’t looking that encouraging.
However, politically-engineered taxpayer subsidies for any kind of “green” boondoggle are looking very attractive.
Twiggy is just “following the money”.
And it’s an easier business model to con a clueless political class out of taxpayers’ $$$s than it is to compete for commodities customers in the world markets.
Trying to go down the “hydrogen” route
Someone should tell him that combustion of hydrogen creates.. guess what..
... WATER ie HUMIDITY.!
The combustion of hydrocarbon fuels also produce water, natural gas being the highest.
According to NOAA both relative humidity and specific humidity trends near the surface have been more or less stable since 1948.
Combustion of hydrogen creates atmospheric H2O. !
What this guy says means nothing to me. Apparently he was convinced by the two nations increasing their consumption of coal to encourage us to starve to death, freezing in the dark. Nope not going to do that he can take a hike. The scariest part is he talked to the White House. This guy has serious problems.
He needs to keep China using coal…
… so he can sell his Iron Ore. 🙂
Twiggy Forrest is heavily into Hydrogen – well, government subsidies for Hydrogen anyway. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-11/qld-hydrogen-capacity-explainer-hydrogen-green-twiggy/100528046
Twiggy, who sells iron ore to China by the (very large) bucketload, will it seems, do anything to further his own interests: https://7news.com.au/politics/twiggy-under-fire-for-china-diplomat-stunt-c-1007465
Combustion of hydrogen CREATES atmospheric H2O.
How does he reconcile that with his “humidity” scare ! 🙂
D’OH !!!
Old mate Twiggy. Lives in the billionaires bubble. No sense of reality.
Just so long as the FMG shares I inherited don’t take too much of a hammering !
(They were purchased when price was around $4 🙂
Dividends very handy. 🙂
Maybe “Twiggy” should speak with some actual scientists instead of cities and buildings. I don’t know about New Deli and Beijing but whenever I read something that the Whitehouse says its pretty stupid.
Both India and China have put priority on an upward trajectory in coal consumption so their per capita wealth grows to be similar to that in the developed world at the present time.
There is every possibility of the current standard of living in the developed world going down to pass India and China on the way up.
Eventually, immigration to developed countries will stop as they lose desirability. Another 4 years of Biden could result in the border wall on the US-Mexican border being a deterrent for Hispanics wanting to return home.
The humidity in Cape Town is pretty normal today. Maybe it’s not a global thing.
Climate ambition equates to a waste of resources way beyond any previous efforts of the human race to destroy wealth.
Miners like Twiggy are set to inherit the Earth as they control the resources needed to implement the fantasy. Wind turbines and millions of kilometres of new HV power lines creates massive demand for iron ore and Twiggy can enjoy the ride.
Twiggy has detected that the UN idiots are losing credibility so he has decided to make his own noises to cheer on the Net-Zero fantasy.
Current price for iron ore (62%) is USD119/t. It cost FMG around USD15/t to mine their stuff, which sells at a discount for being lower grade. And FMG ships about 200Mt per year. So gross profit up around USD20bn every year.
All the big miners are pushing Net Zero and EVs. These are resource hungry monsters that will propel global mining to the stratosphere.
As the miners’ wealth and power escalates, they will be pushing for a more forceful UN that can come good on climate ambition rather than just talking about it.
bloomberg’s green-energy research team estimates $200 trillion to stop warming by 2050.
Worldwide cash, checking, and savings balances add up to around $40 trillion.
The wealth of the world is about $208 trillion. A 95% wealth tax would just about do it. That will never happen.
Forrest has examined Al Gore’s operational scam model and decided this is the way for him too.
It’s strange how suddenly ordinary people become ‘sensations’ when they follow a popular regime, and/ or, how, in reverse, they are cancelled for either changing their minds or speaking our against the alarmists and their work.
Nobody ever thinks about the opportunism and good fortune that random life events often bless us with but we are put in no doubt about the misfortune our lack of worth will bring should we show good cause to follow or negotiate an unpopular path though it most certainly will, in time, prove to be the right way for us to have chosen.
Andrew Forrest can enjoy his fifteen minutes and then soon wonder how he ever made such a poor choice when his penny eventually drops. “Do not ever be fooled into following popular choice for its own sake”, my grandparents told me in my early teens.
Pity we didn’t teach our teachers better for a whole generation or more.
From article:”…“lethal humidity is here”…”
Isn’t lethal humidity called drowning?
It’s worse than he thought: The Hunga-Tonga eruption put lots of extra moisture into the atmosphere.
This may be the end. Or maybe not.
He is in it for the Subsidy money and tax breaks to line his already bloated wealth he needs to support his EGO a long boring behavior we have suffered from.
At ~15 C the increase in water vapour holding potential of air is about 6.3% for a 1 degree increase. However that is its maximum potential. Air is rarely at 100% humidity unless it is raining.
See https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/ to have a look at the numbers.
If air is heated over land by 1 additional degree the chances of the humidity remaining constant is approximately zero. The reason is simple – there is no guarantee of water vapour being available just because it is warmer. And were the air to dry the environment (leaves, fields and ponds) in a pointless attempt to maintain some humidity level, that could only happen for part of one day.
His statement about “killer humidity” needs several caveats. Any additional evaporation from moisture sources implies significant cooling because it takes a lot of energy to evaporate water. There is no free energy.
It takes ~1207 Joules to heat air 1 deg C at 25 degrees. If that energy were converted into additional evaporation, it could only evaporate a measly 0.36 grams of water. The potential at 25 C is an additional 3.35 g but there is not enough energy available to evaporate it, and if it did, the temperature would have to drop 3 deg C which would be a relative humidity rise and a temperature drop. Maintaining constant humidity is quite difficult.
So his alarmist claim is impossible because of physical constraints.
The claim is that the temperature will rise, AND simultaneously the air will have the same relative humidity. He is going to have to both ways: the extra energy said to be from trapping heat in the lower atmosphere will both raise the air temperature and increase the water vapour load, where that putative load requires 3 times the energy available in that 1 degree rise. At best it can raise the humidity 1/3 of the way but not raise the temperature at all, in which case there is no temperature change.
This alarmist position on humidity is a load of stuff and nonsense. CAGW is for people who are bad at math.
No doubt the big emitters are paying particularly close attention to his proclamations. That’s the reason that global coal consumption is likely to set or closely approach an all-time record for the 3rd straight year. That’s why India claims its coal consumption will rise by 40% by 2030. It’s also why China has renounced reaching any Net Zero targets by 2060 since it says it’s unrealistic to continue advancing its economy by depending too much on wind and solar and scaling back on fossil fuels. As well, the US seems to be ignoring these warnings since it set a new record for oil extraction just last year and is unlikely to see a drop in 2023. These countries account for 52% of global emissions, so their numbers and intentions reveal that if they’re not especially worried about the doomsday scenarios of the alarmists, why would smaller fossil fuel consumers be concerned either.
Earths humidity is increasing? One can say that but such claims conflict with measurements which say that Earths humidity is decreasing. Go to climate4you.com for the NOAA data.
Story Tip. This may be off topic but not totally when it comes to hottest year.
https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/bumper-us-corn-harvest-sinks-prices-pushes-global-supply-surplus-2023-10-19/
Good news for corn users, not so much for growers.
Still, CAGW folks need to correct their views on heat killing food production.
