ClimateTV Live at 1PM ET: COPs and Robbers – Follow the Money

This week on “Climate Change Roundtable,” our trio of host Anthony Watts and panelists Linnea Lueken and H. Sterling Burnett turn their attention to the COP28 Climate Conference set to commence in Dubai on November 30th.

To shed further insight into the conference is Craig Rucker from CFACT, who is set to attend COP28. Rucker will share his expectations of the conference, highlight the special interests at play, and predict how the event will unfold. In Episode #86, “COPs and Robbers,” we’ll take a critical look at these international gatherings, examining who benefits from them and exploring the broader implications for global climate policy. And unless you’re a politically connected global elite, don’t expect to benefit.

Additionally, we’ll touch on the latest and craziest climate news of the week.

Remember, “Climate Change Roundtable” is live every Friday at 12 PM CT/1 PM ET. Join the live show to engage with our panelists and get your questions answered. If you’re keen to make sure your question gets noticed, send it in as a super chat, and we’ll be sure to address it during the show.

Who’d have thought 150 years ago that a guy from Portugal would be brow beating the UK?

The Grand Solar Minimum, which has just started, my make it much cooler without needing the $US200 trillion in spending that the Bloomberg green energy research team has estimated it would cost to stop warming by 2050. The last time a Grand Solar Minimum happened about 400 years ago the Earth got the Little Ice Age.

Hope that train engine doesn’t explode. It could probably wipe out a small town.

Bloomberg’s green-energy research team estimated it would cost $US200 Trillion to stop Global Warming by 2050.

There is only $US40 trillion in cash, checking, and savings in the world.

There are about 2 billion households in the world, so that is $US100,000 per household.

Ninety percent of the world’s households can’t afford anything additional so the households in developed nations will have to pay 10 times as much to cover it.

That means about $US 1 million per household in developed countries or about $US 35,000 per year for 27 years. The working people can’t afford anything near that, most would prefer to have a million in the bank and a degree or two of warming.

The millionaires and billionaires have about $US208 billion. That would cover it, but they won’t give up their wealth.

Of course, the Earth is still in a 2.55 million-year ice age named the Quaternary Glaciation, 20% of the land is frozen, and it snows ice crystals every year.

Worldwide 4.6 million people die from cold-related causes, mainly heart attacks and strokes, compared to 500,000 that die from heat-related causes. The cold air causes our blood vessels to constrict to conserve heat and that raises blood pressure causing more stokes and heart attacks.

Here is one new 2023 study that says that depending on the surface temperature and solar irradiance datasets that one uses, one can show anything from mostly human-caused warming to mostly natural warming.

The countries where 90% of the people live, China, India and the other developing countries, have said that growth is more important to them. That means that if the developed countries stop using fossil fuels it won’t much affect worldwide CO2 levels, even it CO2 did something harmful.

The ore train article that Anthony flashed on the screen stated that the battery locomotive will be paired with a diesel locomotive, and recharge by regenerative brakes during the 200+ mile downhill portion of the trip. But it won’t be delivered till later in 2024, after a lot more testing. So they have yet to see if it actually saves fuel or increases the load caarying capacity of the train.

Reminds me of the same problems makers of battery powered 18-wheeler trucks are dealing with — limited range and diminished load capacity.
