Welsh College Trains Climate Disruptors of the Future

Essay by Eric Worrall

h/t Dr. Willie Soon; “It’s learning from being out there in nature and experiencing things with our whole bodies, rather than just reading about it and knowing it in an intellectual way.”

Climate change: Uni degree will train future disruptors

By Teleri Glyn Jones

BBC Wales News

Black Mountains College in Talgarth, Powys, has launched a BA in sustainable futures.

It teamed up with Cardiff Metropolitan University, the Brecon Beacons National Park and industry partners.

The college also claimed it was the world’s first dedicated entirely to climate action, responding to “the climate and ecological emergency”.

Alison Stunt is studying horticulture at the college and said the approach was not purely intellectual: “It’s not academic in that way, it’s not learning from books.

“It’s learning from being out there in nature and experiencing things with our whole bodies, rather than just reading about it and knowing it in an intellectual way.”

Mr Rawlance admitted it was really difficult for people “who were educated in these very strict degree programmes to get our heads around” but was “obvious to young people coming up now”.

“So, this is not only urgent and necessary but it’s responding to the market. This is what the kids want.”

Black Mountains College has received more than £500,000 in lottery funding and is in the process of securing £1.5m of social investment to fund the launch of the course.

What can I say – some of the most potent magic mushrooms in the world grow on the hills of Wales. Not that I’m suggesting the school would encourage that kind of thing, of course.

Since they’re a publicly funded entity…
And promoting violence to overturn government policy is tantamount to terrorism…
They should lose their public funding forthwith

Google can’t translate our ancient tongue.

“thanks to J T Houghton and crew for their brilliant ideas

“Brilliant” would have to have a /sarc tab.
I didn’t do it for a reason.

Lloer (lleuad) means MOON.
lloerig therefore means “like the moon” ie. LUNATIC.
Anyone from North Wales would know the meaning.

J T Houghton born in Dyserth (North Wales) was therefore the originator of this lunatic behaviour, so we can blame him for starting it all off, – no hallucinogens needed.

Is someone suggesting that, as the global warming collapsed around their ears, the fanatics will descend into pagan belief and start sacrificing virgins to the God of Rising Temperature?

If it involves naked maidens dancing around Stonehenge, it should be good for the tourist trade….

He is clearly bringing the ‘young/uneducated’ into mind when he made that statement.

I wonder what benefit Mr Rawlance derived from his “strict degree programme”….no doubt he has been a keen visitor/candidate to Manchuria in the pursuit of his rigidly applied degree course.

There is a tiny scintilla in here – though it’s not at all tiny
It’s a little experiment that is tiny in that it is simplicity to do, anyone can do at any time and get instant results.

It’s not tiny in those results. The implications could not Be Any Bigger for, pretty well, all of life on Earth really.
When said and done, that is what this experiment is doing: Assessing Life on Earth

I have explained it before but, it’ll be lost and buried under mountains of trivia & minutia masquerading as science so…….

It is an assessment of The State of The Greenhouse and by sounds of it, that’s what these folks will be getting up to. I do hope someone explains to them.
How to do it:

  • Go outside, any outside, anywhere any time although time only matters as far as seasons do.
  • Go at as many different places as you possibly can. (Don’t take long, 5mins max)
  • When you get there, take your boots/shoes/sandies/crocs/socks/wellies off. (We want bare feet to do this properly – we are doing Serious Science so lets get it right with no potential quibbles or come backs)
  • Start walking.
  • Go for as big and long a walk as time allows. (The bigger the walk the better – it makes the hoggermeniceashuns, averges and strandnat denverarervashuns of the data you collect that much better
  • As you go, no rush just stroll gently along, notice how it feels.
  • Remember that sensation, how warm, hot, cold, damp, wet, hard, soft, bouncy it is.
  • Maybe makes notes or take photos to help with remembering
  • Repeat at other places. Lots and lots of other and different places
  • (Scary innit, this is how you learn to dance. Don’t worry, nobodies laughing. If they are it’s because they’re envious and also want to learn but haven’t got the guts)
  • After a few little experiments, start to collate your thoughts and data

Results: Simplicity again

  • If you came upon more hard, uncomfortable, noticeably warm/hot places than you did soft, cold and bouncy places: We Are Fugged. The Greenhouse is dead and with it, so are we.

That’s it. Over to you

I had recommended the original BBC article as #17 of 24 articles, on my blog on February 7, and recommended this summary today, because people might have missed the original article.

The climate change brainwashing over 12 years of school must not have been enough. So now it has been extended to an actual college course, Other colleges will surely follow.

Training future climate disruptors, says the BBC headline. Hard to believe the leftist takeover of education and government is complete.

Eric Worrall remains the best climate and energy reporter online.

I’ve got an ebike. It’s fantastic. However, I bought it from an excellent small UK company who make sure their batteries, chargers, and motors are fully compliant. Shameless plug for a superb one man business: https://biggamebikes.com/
The bikes that have been exploding are the mountain bikes that food couriers adapt by installing a nasty cheap motor, nasty cheap battery, and a charger that invariably isn’t compatible with the battery. When they light up it’s carnage – a severe risk to life. The govt need to crack down on these shysters.

Responding to the Market AND looking for funding?

Okay. Sure. I think the overlooked point here is that while ‘kids’ might want things, they don’t actually have any money.

Another claim I started making a few years back is that Higher Education has no real function other to keep the unemployable out of the crowded youth job market for a few more years.

They are NOT a magical source of wisdom that can be carefully tapped by the worthy in order to spread knowledge throughout the great unwashed communities. They are a business. If people are dumb enough to say “Hey, I want to do a course where I get to run around the woods naked with impressionable hippy chicks and my student loan will pay for it” then the unis are almost required to steal the free money.

I don’t really blame them. If someone was willing to give me huge piles of money for me to pass on my wisdom on procrastination, online trolling and getting easily distrac… Sorry, what were talking about?

Oh yes, I don’t really blame the unis for making easy money. I blame the establishment culture for continuing to defend the myth that Higher Learning is vital and that Universities are beyond question.
