Climate change: Uni degree will train future disruptors
By Teleri Glyn Jones

Black Mountains College in Talgarth, Powys, has launched a BA in sustainable futures.
It teamed up with Cardiff Metropolitan University, the Brecon Beacons National Park and industry partners.
The college also claimed it was the world’s first dedicated entirely to climate action, responding to “the climate and ecological emergency”.
…
Alison Stunt is studying horticulture at the college and said the approach was not purely intellectual: “It’s not academic in that way, it’s not learning from books.
“It’s learning from being out there in nature and experiencing things with our whole bodies, rather than just reading about it and knowing it in an intellectual way.”
Mr Rawlance admitted it was really difficult for people “who were educated in these very strict degree programmes to get our heads around” but was “obvious to young people coming up now”.
“So, this is not only urgent and necessary but it’s responding to the market. This is what the kids want.”
Black Mountains College has received more than £500,000 in lottery funding and is in the process of securing £1.5m of social investment to fund the launch of the course.

What can I say – some of the most potent magic mushrooms in the world grow on the hills of Wales. Not that I’m suggesting the school would encourage that kind of thing, of course.
‘Shrooms? Naw, they will learn to cultivate and harvest Unicorn Flatus and Proxy Dust
I’ll believe it when the tree huggers become cactus huggers too.
I cannot believe that any one would give large grants of some one else’s money to a program like this .
They have always said there is one fool born every minute .
Magic schrooms would certainly adjust their thinking. The stupidity burns like a magnesium flare, hard to put out.
Since they’re a publicly funded entity…
And promoting violence to overturn government policy is tantamount to terrorism…
They should lose their public funding forthwith
Mae’n rhaid ddweud.
Hollol anhygol, twp dros ben! cretinaidd.
Diolch yn fawr i J T Houghton ai crew am eu syniadau lloerig.
Google can’t translate our ancient tongue.
“Brilliant” would have to have a /sarc tab.
I didn’t do it for a reason.
Lloer (lleuad) means MOON.
lloerig therefore means “like the moon” ie. LUNATIC.
Anyone from North Wales would know the meaning.
J T Houghton born in Dyserth (North Wales) was therefore the originator of this lunatic behaviour, so we can blame him for starting it all off, – no hallucinogens needed.
Alison Stunt is studying horticulture at the college and said the approach was not
purelyintellectualFixed it.
Offa’s dike was built with good reason
Is someone suggesting that, as the global warming collapsed around their ears, the fanatics will descend into pagan belief and start sacrificing virgins to the God of Rising Temperature?
If it involves naked maidens dancing around Stonehenge, it should be good for the tourist trade….
Good plan.
Maidens naked or otherwise at a university near you!
Good luck finding any of them.

“Mr Rawlance admitted it was really difficult for people “who were educated in these very strict degree programmes to get our heads around” but was “obvious to young people coming up now”.
He is clearly bringing the ‘young/uneducated’ into mind when he made that statement.
Why does an image of Greta Thunberg immediately come into my mind?
I wonder what benefit Mr Rawlance derived from his “strict degree programme”….no doubt he has been a keen visitor/candidate to Manchuria in the pursuit of his rigidly applied degree course.
Let her go
There is a tiny scintilla in here – though it’s not at all tiny
It’s a little experiment that is tiny in that it is simplicity to do, anyone can do at any time and get instant results.
It’s not tiny in those results. The implications could not Be Any Bigger for, pretty well, all of life on Earth really.
When said and done, that is what this experiment is doing: Assessing Life on Earth
I have explained it before but, it’ll be lost and buried under mountains of trivia & minutia masquerading as science so…….
It is an assessment of The State of The Greenhouse and by sounds of it, that’s what these folks will be getting up to. I do hope someone explains to them.
How to do it:
Results: Simplicity again
That’s it. Over to you
And people wonder why I don’t buy a lottery ticket.
A way to make money from dim people. A whole new client base for the so called ‘education’ sector.
This represents an admission the educationalist have nothing of value to give the children/students. They are clean out of worthwhile things to teach. Their solution to students looking for inspiration and information is, go outside and play!
I had recommended the original BBC article as #17 of 24 articles, on my blog on February 7, and recommended this summary today, because people might have missed the original article.
The climate change brainwashing over 12 years of school must not have been enough. So now it has been extended to an actual college course, Other colleges will surely follow.
Training future climate disruptors, says the BBC headline. Hard to believe the leftist takeover of education and government is complete.
Eric Worrall remains the best climate and energy reporter online.

How about training them about home safely disruptors
“The London Fire Brigade were called to 88 fires caused by privately owned e-bikes last year. Following the enormous surge in incidents, consumers are being warned to only buy a device from reputable retailers.”
https://news.sky.com/story/alarming-increase-in-the-number-of-fires-caused-by-e-scooter-and-e-bike-batteries-12806523
I’ve got an ebike. It’s fantastic. However, I bought it from an excellent small UK company who make sure their batteries, chargers, and motors are fully compliant. Shameless plug for a superb one man business: https://biggamebikes.com/
The bikes that have been exploding are the mountain bikes that food couriers adapt by installing a nasty cheap motor, nasty cheap battery, and a charger that invariably isn’t compatible with the battery. When they light up it’s carnage – a severe risk to life. The govt need to crack down on these shysters.
But actually, a Honda Cub…. Lot to be said for them. Last forever, don’t burst into flames.
Nice bums, though.
You really have to zoom in to see they’re not naked.
The picture is from a 1973 film, The Wicker Man.
Much larger picture there btw.
From the website of BMC:
“We expect BMC Graduates entering employment will have sharpened critical skills”
Should be interesting to see how BMC combines indoctrination with sharpening critical skills.
the eponymous ms Stunt
I know her sister, Cupid..
they appear to be worshipping a co2 spewing fire . nevertheless i would be happy to join that group .
“It’s learning from being out there in nature and experiencing things with our whole bodies, rather than just reading about it and knowing it in an intellectual way.”
Sounds like golf.
Maybe I’d they go outside and experience the weather they might realize that warmer is better . And after four years of being outside they might also realize that the earth isn’t burning up
So, a degree for thick people.
The watering down of a Bachelor’s degree over the last 3 decades is truly deplorable.

The Eloy cometh.
Where’s a good Morlock when you need one
California is where they get their graduate level disruptor degrees….

“BA in sustainable futures.”
Less competition for my kids. I’d send them for BAs if I could pack a good trust fund.
I’m not sure whether the photo is stock photo or if it goes with the original story, definitely a gender commentary could be made.
“This is what the kids want.”
Kids.
Want.
Says it all.
“ it’s responding to the market. This is what the kids want. “
Such a great way to run a college. Throw in underwater basket weaving, and you’ll be cranking out the highly employable professionals so desperately needed!
“the approach was not purely intellectual: “It’s not academic””
No truer words. I think the term they meant to use was “cult”.
Define “emergency”.
I don’t think it means what they think it means.
This sort of BS makes me ashamed to say I live in Wales.
P.S. I’m British, not Welsh.
Waste of time and money.
It figures that some fly-by-night institution like this would get involved in some dead-end project that it’s proposing. It shouldn’t lose too much sleep when it learns no one is paying any attention to such hogwash.
Another non qualification then for perverse cultists? Will they be singing Delilah?
“So, this is not only urgent and necessary but it’s responding to the market. This is what the kids want.”
Black Mountains College has received more than £500,000 in lottery funding and is in the process of securing £1.5m of social investment to fund the launch of the course.
Responding to the Market AND looking for funding?
Okay. Sure. I think the overlooked point here is that while ‘kids’ might want things, they don’t actually have any money.
Another claim I started making a few years back is that Higher Education has no real function other to keep the unemployable out of the crowded youth job market for a few more years.
They are NOT a magical source of wisdom that can be carefully tapped by the worthy in order to spread knowledge throughout the great unwashed communities. They are a business. If people are dumb enough to say “Hey, I want to do a course where I get to run around the woods naked with impressionable hippy chicks and my student loan will pay for it” then the unis are almost required to steal the free money.
I don’t really blame them. If someone was willing to give me huge piles of money for me to pass on my wisdom on procrastination, online trolling and getting easily distrac… Sorry, what were talking about?
Oh yes, I don’t really blame the unis for making easy money. I blame the establishment culture for continuing to defend the myth that Higher Learning is vital and that Universities are beyond question.
Modern colleges are rapidly becoming a compete waste of time and money.
Turn on, tune in, drop out!
