Climate Activists Stepping Up Efforts to Ensnare YOUR Children

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

Having failed to win over adults, climate activists appear to be stepping up efforts to impress their viewpoint on children entrusted to their care, with strategies ranging from climate themed early learning stories to activism workshops for teenagers.

Get them young;

Why Children’s Stories Are a Powerful Tool to Fight Climate Change

Why you can trust us

MAREK OZIEWICZ 6 MIN READJAN 14, 2022

The power of children’s stories resides largely in its audience: in how open young people are to new ideas. Their drive to experiment is familiar to any parent: Children invent new words, do things differently, and ask “why” about pretty much everything we adults take for granted.

For teachers, children’s noncompliant curiosity is at once a source of delight and frustration. We know this curiosity lies at the heart of learning, and we strive to keep it alive by pushing against educational systems built on factory-model standardization. And while some dismiss youth “rebelliousness” as a stage—something to grow out of—what if it is really a refusal to comply with the wrong ways of doing things that adults have acquiesced to?

In this time of climate change and biodiversity loss, children’s ability to imagine alternatives to the way things are may be the most powerful force for the socioeconomic transformation we need. It is childlike curiosity that allows youth climate activists like Xiuhtezcatl Martinez and Greta Thunberg to imagine that people like you and me, together, can change the system to work for the planet. It is childlike honesty that empowers young climate strikers to say, much like the child in “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” that adults are caught up in self-serving illusions about eternal growth in the market economy. And it really takes a childlike power to believe that a sustainable, equitable, and multi-species future is achievable even as corporations are fracking like there’s no tomorrow.

Imagine that we teach climate literacy from kindergarten all the way up to high school and across all subject areas. Imagine we give our students story-rich examples to help them understand what is at stake and how they can be agents of change. Imagine we also empower them with vocabulary and concepts to articulate visions of sustainable, equitable futures. And imagine we give our teachers a resource where they can find books, films, apps, and other formats—including lesson plans—for teaching climate literacy effectively.

We do this because we recognize that in our current socioeconomic system, any meaningful action on climate change is indeed a childish dream. But if this childishness—its audacity, directness, and hope—is the only way forward, addressing climate change is eminently a job for children’s stories.

Teenage workshops to turn out more kids who think like Greta Thunberg;

Climate change: Inadequate governmental response is causing climate anxiety in young people

January 14, 2022 by World Economic Forum

This article is brought to you thanks to the collaboration of The European Sting with the World Economic Forum.

Author: Stefan Klebert, Chief Executive Officer, GEA

  • More than half of young people worry about the future of the planet, according to a new survey.
  • 75% described the future as “frightening”.
  • Despite the lack of action from global governments, young people are taking action.

Governments around the world must protect the mental health of young people by taking action against climate change, a study from The Lancet Planetary Health has concluded.

What are young people doing to help solve the crisis?

Regardless of the perceived government inaction, Melati Wijsen and her sister Isabel are training up a generation by giving them the tools to make a difference.

YOUTHTOPIA offers on-the-ground local workshops and training for young people who want to become “changemakers”. YOUTHTOPIA is the second project from the pair after they helped bring about a ban on single-use plastic bags six years ago in Bali – a movement called Bye Bye Plastic Bags.

Greta Thunberg and other young climate activists sat in front of the Swedish parliament every day for three weeks in August 2018 to protest the lack of action on climate change. As a result, she launched the Fridays for Future school climate strikes

Our kids are not “powerful tools” for others to use, to further a political agenda which parents have largely rejected.

They really want a Red Guard group like Mao used in the Cultural Revolution. When someone is advocating for terrorism and chaos, it would seem much more advisable to deal with the advocates rather than use their methods.

Well yes. And Bill Ayres, infamous domestic terrorist from a few decades back, takes the same view. At first, Ayres took the head-on approach but then he realized that focusing his attacks on the young and impressionable was a better, although slower way to go. On that philosophy he got an Ed.D degree from University of Illinois-Chicago and has been patiently infiltrating both the teaching side of this equation and the student side. The student side is young and impressionable; the teaching side is just gullible and not well equipped to think about what they are doing.

Excellent Kenji. Bring the various sacrifices vocally down to these recruited young about what such imagined stories (as this ‘worrisome’ climate change narrative has been since its inception) will cost them in the denial of many favored playthings/treats once enjoyed by children like them that must now be denied them (even to leaving them twiddling their thumbs) according to their newly adopted notions. This will introduce the concept of cost/benefit analysis to their embrace of each assertion of necessity.

“They really want a Red Guard group like Mao used in the Cultural Revolution.”

I see where the EPA has just announced the hiring of 1,000 “climate activists”. No doubt, they will be employed in propagandizing the public, including the children, and in intimidating the climate change skeptics.

If Biden’s “Build Back Better” bill had passed, AOC would get to hire 1.5 million climate change activists. Fortunately, Build Back Better is a non-starter, so it looks like we are only going to get stuck with 1,000 new, paid climate activists.

Trump can fire all of them after the next election. Maybe Congress can fire them when Republicans take over in Jan. 2023. Maybe Trump will be Speaker of the House in Jan. 2023.

We can hope, can’t we. Yes, we can!

The unholy alliance between teachers unions and woke politicians is designed to intercede in the traditional parent-child awareness cycle. I have seen studies that say “you are what environment you were in when you were 7 years old”, and also by age 11 or 12 peer groups are more important for cultural adjustment than actual family. The current crop of brain washed children may have difficulty sorting out reality for themselves, but eventually the CAGW theme will dissipate, like maybe after a Little Ice Age?

It is an interesting read. They invite diverse viewpoints. I suspect they mean people that think like them, but perhaps we should take them at their word and give them feedback and a different perspective. There are many readers here at WUWT that could provide authoritative and well documented counterarguments.
They say:

We are committed to engaging with you and taking action based on your suggestions, complaints, and other feedback. ‘Polar bears are endangered.’ But they aren’t… Well that depends who you talk to. If you listen to the canine expert Susan C you would think they are invading the world in large numbers.
‘Pacific islands will disappear.’ But they haven’t… Tell that to Tonga Today. As the sea level rises and it is, low islands will become increasingly at risk from events like today.
’Arctic summer sea ice will vanish.’ But it hasn’t… YetOh boy, take a look at this graph and tell me Arctic ice is not in decline. https://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/arctic-sea-ice/
’Renewables are cost effective.’ But they aren’t… Depends whether you include all the costs including long term influence of a heating planet.
And so on. Warmunist failures are inescapable… And denier failures are too. Like I said, if you want to cherry pick there is dumb stuff said on both sides. But it was predicted if we increased CO2, that the planet would warm , it has and that sea level would rise, it has and that the ice would melt is has. there’s three pretty key predictions that have come true.

It’s always been fascinating how failed predictions are always dismissed as silly things that nobody ever took seriously.

Once again, Simon has to lie about what someone else has said in order to refute his own lie. Dr. Crawford (Also notice how Simon dismisses the credentials of those who are outside the club) never said that Polar Bears are invading the world. Never said anything close to that. What she has done is point out that Polar Bears are doing well, and that unlike the lies of your side, have never depended on summer ice to survive.

Ohh, a newspaper story to prove a scientific point. Are you really that desperate? I guess you must be since the actual science shows that most Pacific islands are getting bigger, not smaller.

I love how the alarmists like to start their ice graphs at the coldest point in the last 100 years. However, the low point in ice was set over 12 years ago, and those lows haven’t been challenged since.

There are no costs to a warming planet. All the changes so far have been beneficial. There has been no increase in heat waves, droughts, floods, wild fires, or any of the other failed predictions of the warmunists.

And once again, Simon drags out his standard false equivalencies in order to distract from the embarrassment of failed predictions.

And to conclude, Simon has to proclaim that if it has warmed, CO2 must have done it. If ice has melted, CO2 is what caused it.
Then again, Simon has never demonstrated any familiarity with either science or the scientific method.

In the early ’70s, there were between 8,000-10,000 polar bears. Current estimates are 22,000-31,000, possibly as high as 39,000.

Simon, I must be over the target to have triggered you.

You said ‘Predicted if we increased CO2 it would warm and sea level would rise’. Your problem with both predictions is that it started to warm about 1820 (last Thames ice fair 1818) and sea level has been rising for at least a century. Yet even IPCC AR4 SPM Figure 4 made clear that there wasn’t enough rise in CO2 to impact climate until AFTER 1950. And it did not warm at all from 1950 to about 1975. So you cannot claim causality to your ‘true’ predictions, which did not begin until 1988 with Hansen in Congress in July with the AC off.
Oopsie!

I’m not a psychologist, but I perceive a difference in how children when I grew up reacted to the real dangers in the world compared to the youth of today.

In the 50s we had regular drills to hide under our desks in the event of nuclear fall out, there was an anti-aircraft battalion set up in our lovely Olmsted designed park, and I remember on visits “down the shore” my mother warning to not pick up those small black balls that were oil from tankers sunk a few years back off the coast.

Yet none of my friends exhibited any anxiety or needed counselling.

There is a saying that you have to “learn how to hate”. In my opinion you have to learn how to fear. Maybe because the staff of my elementary school consisted of a 1/2 time principle and a full time secretary they didn’t have time for those lessons.

I checked out Yes Magazine Publishing’s financials:
Between 2016 and 2020 they raked in over £11 000 000 dollars in “public support”. I’ve tried to find the names of their biggest donors, but all their details are (unsurprisingly) blank. They’ve also paid out huge amounts in salaries – two of their directors were paid over $100 000 a piece in 2020. Nice work if you can get it. This is no two-bit little publishing company.

One of the editors is Fran Korton. She’s a far-left zealot with a focus on transforming the world economy. She appears to have the moolah to set up the Fran Korton Safety Net Fund totalling $ 370,525 to stop Yes! Magazine from going under if it hits bad times. Her husband, David Korten, is a director of the magazine and is also a far-left academic who’s fully signed up to the peak oil silliness.

The rest of the board of directors are the usual bunch of hard left zealots earning huge amounts of cash for non-jobs that involve chewing the fat at various “conferences” around the globe. One of them even belongs to “The International Conference on Penal Abolition” – they want to abolish prisons! These people with all their millions of dollars of green cash who are trying to brain wash children are dangerous people, at least one of whom wants to let criminals roam free.

It’s straight out of Lenin, and so are they. Ian Plimer’s new book accurately nails them.

NEW BOOK BY PLIMER MERCILESS TOWARDS ‘GREENS’

In his new book Green Murder, Australian professor Ian Plimer and CLINTEL ambassador in Australia, metaphorically charges the ‘Greens’ with murder: “They murder humans who are kept in eternal poverty without coal-fired electricity. They support slavery and early deaths of black child miners. They murder forests and their wildlife by clear felling for wind turbines. They murder forests and wildlife with their bushfire policies. They murder economies producing unemployment, hopelessness, collapse of communities, disrupted social cohesion and suicide. They murder free speech and freedoms and their takeover of the education system has ended up in the murdering of the intellectual and economic future of young people. They terrify children into mental illness with their apocalyptic death cult lies and exaggerations. They try to divide a nation. They are hypocrites and such angry ignorant people should never touch other people’s money.”

The solution for parents is not hard if they indeed wish to parent: When children start regurgitating this nonsense at home, cut back their standard of living closer to what it might have been a century ago. That means no electronics or entertainments. Walking or bicycles replace car rides. And then point out that the the people making these crisis assertions don’t seem to be making those sacrifices, but are making lots of money so they can continue living a comfortable 21st century lifestyle. Kids are smart, and they’ll figure it out. I did.

If they have sceptical parents it’s going to be frustrating

unfortunately, it is the children who will then inherit the green blobs ‘back to the caves’ lifestyle, winding generations to come 200 years backwards
Schools should refrain from indoctrinating kids with unproven science

Hey, you must be one of those Right wing domestic terrorists! Look out or your local school board will sic the FBI on you.

Though they have long encouraged people kids to narc on their parents concerning everything from having a firearm in the house to failure to recycle they have yet to form their own version of the Hitler youth. I’m sure they’ll get around to that sooner or later. Perhaps that school board that authorized a Devil Worshiping club is the pilot program for that.

“Devil Worshiping club”

How crazy is that.

There are people who are actively trying to destroy our society. We must not allow them to do so.

It’s nothing new. During my earliest years at primary school in the late 1960s, I recall spending pocket money to buy black-and-white prints at school of a Panda bear as we were being taught to save the planet on behalf of the WWF.

Sometimes you have to be honest with yourselves and recognise where the competition is beating you hands-down with long term goals. The political Right (I use the term loosely) have been sitting on their hands for most of my life, saying “I’m alright, Jack” while the opposition is always focussed on the next turn of the ratchet.

Imagine teaching children how to think, not what to think. Imagine giving them the tools to be productive citizens when they grow up, not lazy whiny crybabies. I know. One can dream, can’t one.

Scary! If one thing does not work, they change tactics and hit farther below the belt. Sociopaths, they use children as fodder in their quest for total domination.

I suggest you pick up copies of magazines like Fine Homebuilding if you think it “hasn’t gained any traction”. Or New Pioneer, or Hobby Farms. I could go on.

“Imagine that we teach inculcate climate literacy dogma from kindergarten all the way up to high school the post doc level and across all subject doctrinaire areas and in all government agencies”

There – fixed it- just like my childhood catechism.

This discussion reminds me of a patient I had in the 80’s. A black gentleman from the Chicago ghettos, He was an educated man who ran a detention home for “problem youth” in the San Fernando valley of LA. I asked him about his experiences; he told me that he thought by 7-8yrs+ the the kids were irretrievable because of influences of adults and peers they associated with. I asked him what he would do with kids like these…he told me build a facility with a wall around it and call it rehab but what it actually would be is a facility to keep these kids out of society. Basically a prison. I was astounded by what he said.
Those adverse influences had been built up over a few short years.

“It is childlike curiosity ignorance that allows youth climate activists like Xiuhtezcatl Martinez and Greta Thunberg to imagine hallucinate that deranged activists people like you and me, together, can change destroy the system to work for sanctify the depopulated planet.”

Michael Mann made me change it.

” adults are caught up in self-serving illusions reasonable planning about eternal for modest growth in the market economy. And it really takes a childlike free market to believe that a sustainable, equitable, and multi-species future is achievable even as thanks to corporations who are fracking struggling to produce oil to meet our needs to keep us warm, well fed, and not be home bound in the dark. like there’s no tomorrow.”

When you have science curricula written by Leftist climate alarmists, and taught by teachers whose only knowledge of climate issues is what they get from those curricula, it’s a guarantee the kids will be fed a one-sided view of the whole business. Mind you, if the kids learn this stuff as well as the rest of their subjects, maybe there’s not so much to worry about, especially when they realize how many of their toys and creature comforts they’ll have to give up to save the planet.

“And while some dismiss youth “rebelliousness” as a stage—something to grow out of—what if it is really a refusal to comply with the wrong ways of doing things that adults have acquiesced to?”

It is neither. It is wrong to think this very natural tendency in child development is some kind of flaw. It is also silly thinking that the child is so analytical that he is trying to straighten out parental errors. Normal rebelliousness is a limited force for advancement of the human race, simply because it is a child beginning to think for himself, a transition from what is given to other possibilities.

It’s limited by the child having only a priori reasoning as a tool for his ideas because children don’t, at that stage, yet have experience (in French, this very word means experiment) to employ inductive reasoning.

The “childishness” and bull-headedness of activists ironically probably comes from not having escaped “the given” created by authority. They didn’t (couldn’t?) get to the next critical thinking stage. Poor Greta has a disorder that blocks her from critical thinking and abuse of this child by thoughtless opportunists underscores the terrible lengths these people are prepared to go to.

Their indoctrination ‘plan’ starts too early in child development. By the time the youngest gets to the rebellious phase, monotonous yammering about crisis climate for years has made it the status quo and a target for rebellion. Also, most parents are already in the bag it seems, doubly setting up the target.

In this time of climate change and biodiversity loss..”

My pet peeve with not only “Climate” activists but supposed scientists as well (but I repeat myself) is they start their opinion piece with a false premise and then base the rest of the argument on that false assumption.

Need I point out, the Climate is always changing and the turnover in species is also constant through millennia? Sticking on the new woke word “diversity” is meaningless.
